The Italian International Nursery and Kindergarten, a non-profit private international school, was founded in 2019 by SAPIENTIA FOUNDATION on its own premises at South Horizons, Ap Lei Chau. It is the first Italian School to open in Hong Kong.
The School follows the Hong Kong curriculum for kindergarten, and takes the best of the Italian pedagogic tradition, making reference to the Reggio Emilia Approach.
The curriculum is project-based, with emphasis on hands-on learning experiences, play and positive education.
The School has two streams: English and Chinese, plus Italian language and culture, and Italian and English, plus Chinese language and culture, both with half-day and whole-day options. In addition, to enrich and cultivate children's interests, the School organises a wide range of extra-curricular activities, weekday and weekend. In addition, this year we have introduced an academic stream in the afternoon, taught in English and Cantonese, which uses visual memory techniques to enhance understanding of text, thereby preparing students for admission to top primary schools and for primary school entrance interviews.
Currently, apart from pupils from HKSAR, others enrolled in the School are from Italy, Hungary, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, India, Mainland China, Singapore, Switzerland, UK and Russia. Thus, the IIN&IIKG represents an excellent cultural exchange between Hong Kong and Italy and other countries.
