Every September 21st, International Day of Peace is celebrated globally.
The theme of this year was how we can recover as a world so we have a more equal and sustainable world.
The principal introduced the story of "The Lion Inside" In the story there are two characters, a lion and a little mouse. The story goes that the little mouse feels insignificant and admires the lion’s powerful body and loud voice. This intimidates him but he eventually musters up the courage to ask the lion for advice, and even finds that the lion is not as fierce as the legend perceives him. In the end, they become friends and live together.
Everyone is equal, no matter how big or small, everyone has the persistence of the "mouse" and the brave side of the "lion" in their hearts. In addition, the children also got to learn the nursery rhyme PEACE and made a statement with the palm of their hand to promote the message of "Everyone is equal and we treat everyone with respect and dignity."
The school’s aim of this activity was to teach the children the importance of respecting one another and how we should as a world strive to be more respectful towards all people, regardless of their background. Also the school wanted to emphasise how we as a world aim to live in a peaceful and loving environment.
