Any plans for today? We’ve got an idea for you!
The exhibition, “The Road to the Baroque”, opened yesterday at the Hong Kong Museum of Art, presenting to the local audience the masterpieces from the Capodimonte Museum in Naples for the first time ever in Hong Kong!
The exhibition features 40 late Renaissance works of the northern and central Italy and Neapolitan Baroque masterpieces from the two major nuclei – the Farnese Collection and the Bourbon Collection of the Capodimonte Museum. The collections include works of legendary masters such as Titian, Annibale Carracci and Artemisia Gentileschi, illustrating the richness of the Neapolitan artistic heritage of the 16th and 17th centuries and the power and elegance of Baroque. Their paintings are compelling and strikingly real, often immersing the audience in the scene.
Local artists were also invited to provide artistic responses with various creative media to the works of the Baroque masters, creating an art experience that connects past and present.
The exhibition, realised with the support of the Consulate General of Italy, is part of the celebrations for Italy-China Year of Culture and Tourism 2022 and ‘Italia Mia’ Festival 2022! The Exhibition will run from today to November 2.
